YO! Join Anye Ellis, host of the popular The Commentary podcast, and me as we kick off the release of my newest novel, Nothing Can Tear Us Apart: RUTHLESS!

In this lively and thought-provoking conversation, Anye and I dive into a wide range of issues surrounding RUTHLESS!—from the inspiration behind the novel to the complex relationships, themes, and social issues woven throughout the story.

We discuss why I created an unapologetically wealthy Black gay protagonist, and why I believe it is important to portray Black gay/SGL men as successful, multidimensional, powerful, vulnerable, masculine, romantic, and fully realized human beings.

We also explore Black gay/SGL love, masculinity, monogamy, and intimate partner violence and abuse (IPV/A)—including the disturbing reality that abuse between men is often minimized, dismissed, or misunderstood. What happens when the person you love becomes the person who hurts you? And why can it be so difficult for men, particularly Black gay/SGL men, to acknowledge or seek help when they experience abuse?

Anye and I also delve into the role that intensive therapy plays in the complicated reconciliation between Wesley and Antonio, the novel’s two central protagonists. Their journey isn’t simply about falling in love; it’s about confronting trauma, taking responsibility, rebuilding trust, and determining whether an intense and deeply wounded relationship can ultimately survive.

And then we have some fun talking about my plans to adapt the Nothing Can Tear Us Apart series for the screen—including some of my dream casting choices. Yes, we talk about Colman Domingo and Mike Colter! 🎬

It’s an engaging conversation filled with storytelling, provocative questions, laughter, serious discussion, and a behind-the-scenes look at the creative vision driving Nothing Can Tear Us Apart: RUTHLESS!

So, sit back, press play, and enjoy the ride!
