Greetings!  Welcome to FOOD FOR THE SOUL, my adaptation of Wishes Fulfilled, the popular self-help book/PBS series by Dr. Wayne Dyer, motivational speaker and international best-selling author of more than 30 books.

The overarching message of Wishes Fulfilled is that a “change in feeling (and thinking) results in a change in destiny.”  So my friends, let’s get to work!

Dr. Dyer discusses the FIVE PRINCIPLES of Wishes Fulfilled.  The first is:  “If you want to accomplish something, you must EXPECT it of yourself.”  That’s simple to wrap your head around, so enough said.

And remember:  “You have nothing to fear but fear itself.’

And as importantly:  A change in feeling (and thinking) results in a change in destiny.”

The salient message of Wishes Fulfilled is that “a change in feeling (and thinking) is a change in destiny.”  Last time, we discussed the First Principle: “If you want to accomplish something, you must expect it from yourself.”

The Second Principle is “I AM.”  Every time you say stuff like, “I am weak,” “I am not successful,” “I am incapable,” you defile the name of God.  So, you must RETRAIN your subconscious mind to attract what you really want.

Instead say, “I AM strong.”  “I AM successful.”  “I AM capable.”  And, I Am God becomes your identity.

Remember:  “You have nothing to fear but fear itself.”

And, “a change in feeling (and thinking) is a change in destiny!

We’ve already covered the first two principles of “Wishes Fulfilled.”  The third and final is “THE FOUNDATIONS.”

The first Foundation is: IMAGINATION.  According to Dr. Dyer, this means that you must place in your IMAGINATION what you want to be a reality, and then fervently believe it.

The second Foundation is: LIVING FROM THE END.  Simply stated, according to The Doc, this means that you must staunchly believe that you ALREADY POSSESS what you want to achieve, which is the END RESULT.

The third Foundation is:  ASSUME THE FEELING OF THE WISH FULFILLED.  Simply stated, this means you must actually FEEL what is that you want–as if you already have it.

The fourth Foundation is:  ATTENTION.  Dr. Dyer asks, “What kind of attention do you place on your desires?  How much effort are you actually expending to achieve your goals?”  He counsels, “Don’t complain, don’t explain what you place into your IMAGINATION.  Don’t allow anyone to tell you what is possible or impossible for you.”

The fifth and final Foundation is:  “Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.”  Dr. Dyer states that this is the “most practical” of the Foundations.  You see, the subconscious mind is most comfortable when you are in your sleep state.  It’s when the subconscious is busy at work.

According to The Doc, “During the last five minutes, you’ll marinate in your subconscious mind for the next eight hours.  Most people use the last five minutes before sleep on the negative; it’s our ‘worry time’.”

This is when negative instructions are being sealed into your subconscious.  You are thinking things like, “I have a bad job.  I’m not capable.  Why is he mistreating me,” etc., etc. When you do this, the subliminal is listening to you ask the subconscious for negative stuff.

Therefore, Dr. Dyer emphasizes that you must REVERSE THE PROCESS!  According to him, the subconscious mind is TOTALLY impersonal, open to suggestion, and CANNOT distinguish between reality and unreality.

So, in those last five minutes before sleep, say to yourself:  “I am successful.  I am capable.  I am a winner,” etc., etc.  Dr. Dyer advises you to let go of your senses, others’ opininons, your fears, etc.

The bottom line:  you have to SEE the “Wish Fulfilled”– that which has not yet come to pass as if it is NOW with you.

And remember:  “a change in feeling (and thinking) results in a change in destiny.”
