WRITTEN FOR

sir.wyattofficial

I’m that quintessential Renaissance Guy: Radio Personality (“WYATT!” Podcast), Author (“NCTUA”), Journalist (HuffPo, Advocate, Wyattevans.com, etc).

Author James Earl Hardy Turns (B-Boy) Blues Into P Author James Earl Hardy Turns (B-Boy) Blues Into Pure Joy!

WYATT! ( #Wyattonair ) roars back with a special, scintillating eppy! Special guest is James Earl Hardy ( @james.e.hardy.9 ), the acclaimed author of the iconic "B-Boy Blues." The series of novels was launched in 1994 with "B-Boy Blues," which has been praised as the first gay hip-hop love story. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brJovgE_8sk

We start our conversation with Hardy, who explains how the "B-Boy" universe came to be. He states, "You were expected to walk through one door—Black or gay—and the novel unapologetically embraced and celebrated both. For them, as well as the rest of society, 'gay' was a white thing while 'Black' was specifically seen through a prism of heterosexuality. 'B-Boy' was too gay for some heteros, too Black for some whites—as well as the wrong kind of gay for certain white gay folk and the wrong kind of Black for certain Black hetero folk."

He adds, "The question was always, 'Who is going to read a Black-on-Black gay love story?' The answer, it turns out, was everybody. I knew something special, transcendent was happening when I'd travel to Brooklyn, and there were sistas reading 'B-Boy' on the A train. Many folks who aren't Black and/or gay and/or male have told me that they got 50, 60 pages into the novel and totally forgot it was about two men."

Next, we discuss "B-Boy Blues'" award-winning theatrical production and

long-awaited film adaptation. I ask how pleased he was with its screen adaptation and whether anything was sacrificed in the translation. Hardy's answer is both enlightening and nuanced.

The Revelations of a Golden Boi!! WYATT! ( #Wya The Revelations of a Golden Boi!!

WYATT! ( #Wyattonair ) returns with an invigorating and intriguing episode! Our special guest is Brandon C. Smith ( @ goldenboiproductions ), a NYC–based actor, musician, filmmaker, and creative producer whose work lives at the intersection of art and social justice.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfl2HR6zfK0

We jump-start our conversation with a quote from a recent Prideindex.com interview: "Deeply committed to amplifying marginalized voices, Brandon drives storytelling that sparks transformative conversations and fosters community engagement." He elaborates.

Next, the multihyphenate discusses two significant milestones: Golden Boi Productions and the Queer Voices NYC Film Festival. In 2018, Smith founded the former, a queer and Black-owned company dedicated to elevating BIPOC and LGBTQ+ narratives through film, media, and public programming. Golden Boi has released the poignant short film, "Bill and Robert," that focuses on the love story of two Black males who meet in 1967, just five years after homosexuality was decriminalized in the United States. The filmmaker gives us the full monty about the film, which has streamed on Amazon Prime and Here TV, as well as the mission and evolution of Golden Boi Productions.

Smith is the executive director and co-founder of the Queer Voices NYC Film Festival. This non-profit empowers LGBTQIA+ filmmakers of color by showcasing their work, celebrating their stories, and providing professional development opportunities. After discussing the film festival's impact, he breaks down "Before They Tell Our Stories," a docuseries in partnership with the CUNY LGBTQIA+ Consortium.

We conclude with an enlightening chat about Black/POC LGBTQ+ representation in film and TV, and how the recent, deep job cuts across the media landscape will impact the presentation of these essential stories.

This is another reason that WYATT! is "Eargasm Fo' Tha Grown Folks!"

"How I Know White People Are Crazy!" According To "How I Know White People Are Crazy!" According To Dr. Jonathan M. Lassiter

The WYATT! Podcast ( #Wyattonair ) dives deep into timely and critical issues impacting Gay/SGL (Same-Gender-Loving) men with a diverse set of LGBTQ movers, shakers, and change agents. It’s absorbing, informative, provocative, and sprinkled with sly, spicy (and sometimes a wee bit) scandalous humor! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JtY7JmEQeSM
WYATT! ( #Wyattonair ) welcomes Dr. Jonathan Mathias Lassiter (@lassiterhealth ), a licensed clinical psychologist, professor, public speaker, and author of the new book, "How I Know White People Are Crazy and Other Stories." The volume is already garnering rave reviews.

I begin the conversation by asking Dr. Jonathan what compelled him to write the volume and his thoughts behind its title. His answer is detailed and intriguing.

"How I Know White People Are Crazy and Other Stories" is beautifully structured and masterfully written, full of punch and impact. It hooks you from the very beginning.

Weaving his life story within the text, the author bares his soul, making for an intimate read. "How I Know White People Are Crazy and Other Stories" is a seminal, substantive, and critical work.

Dr. Jonathan writes, "We are crazy because we have all been infected with the whiteness mindset. We are in critical condition, and many of us are dying of whiteness. "Black people and other people from the global majority suffer from the crazy, too." Those statements serve as the launch pad for an insightful discussion and thorough analysis of this important scholarly work.

The clinical psychologist emphasizes, "I am frustrated. But I am not mad. I am not hopeless. In fact, I am exercising my power in writing this book. I am using my vision to write to you."

Nothing Can Tear Us Apart—SHATTERED! “Nothin Nothing Can Tear Us Apart—SHATTERED!

“Nothing Can Tear Us Apart—SHATTERED!” is still servin’ up the Heat, the Passion, and the Power! And soon, its sequel, RUTHLESS!, drops like an atomic bomb!

  Here’s a 5-Star Amazon Review of SHATTERED!—

“Like a daytime drama, it keeps you wanting more! Among his many talents, Wyatt O’Brian Evans has written a series that has the one-two punch of a daytime TV soap opera, in all the good ways. His latest installment in the ‘Nothing Can Tear Us Apart” series, “SHATTERED!’, does not disappoint.

“When Waseem, the vindictive son of Wesley Kelly, shows up, I thought of that famous line from Bette Davis in the Oscar-winning movie All About Eve: 'Fasten your seat belts, it’s going to be a bumpy night.’

“SHATTERED! has all the steam, hawtness, and humor we have come to enjoy in Wyatt’s series, blended in with the issues of intimate partner violence/abuse, mental health issues, and their repercussions. Fasten your seat belts, readers, and get ready for Wes and Antonio’s greatest challenge yet!”

WYATT! ( #Wyattonair ) shines the spotlight on Doug Jones (@dougjones.atlanta), author of "The Fantasies of Future Things," the acclaimed and highly anticipated new novel. www.youtube.com/watch?v=BUTlvFnuPrU
"The Fantasies of Future Things" is powerful, reminiscent of "Moonlight," the 2016 coming-of-age drama film written and directed by Barry Jenkins. "Moonlight" won the Academy Award for Best Picture, exploring the intersection of blackness, masculinity, and vulnerability.

Alex Burger, writer for Artsatlanta.com, states, "' The Fantasies of Future Things' is an ambitious book, interweaving a political and personal story in which a city's search for growth and identity mirrors that of its main characters. The novel adeptly switches between points of view and time periods, evoking how each of our histories is layered into the present and helps shape and determine the future." High praise, indeed.

The development, writing, and publication of "The Fantasies of Future Things" was an intriguing and winding process: Jones explains that it spanned 30 years. He also discusses what compels him to walk the literary path, his writing process, and the art and business of writing.

So, get ready for another enlightening and entertaining installment of WYATT!
