Greetings!  I’ve just interviewed Mr. Maco L. Faniel, the author of the absolutely powerful new book, “Hip-Hop in Houston.”  This tome chronicles the roots of hip-hop/rap in Houston, a major hub for this genre.

Mr. Faniel, an incredibly gifted writer, paints a detailed, nuanced and colorful account of the movers and shakers, as well as the seminal moments in the development and evolution of that city’s hip-hop scene and culture.

I ask Mr. Faniel rather pointed questions about the intersection of hip-hop/rap and homophobia.  To read the complete interview, visit:  www.baltimoreoutloud.com/thinking-outloud/mood-swings/item/2584-hip-hop-in-houston
